Sue and Kevin Rose began hosting lure coursing events at their home in Rumbling Bridge, Kinross in 2008. Previously a deer farm, the 20 acre, fully fenced property was an ideal place to ensure that their own dogs (mostly Deerhound) had the opportunity to stay fit and healthy and fulfill their breed instincts. Sue and Kevin soon decided that they'd like other people to share the experience and give their dogs a day out to remember. And so the popular lure coursing events at Rumbling Bridge were born.
Although sight hounds are best suited to lure coursing it soon became apparent that the activity was suitable for all breeds. Scent hounds and terriers do very well and we've even had Poodles, Labradors and Retrievers amongst our ranks! We have visitors from all over Scotland and beyond.
Our course is typically about 500 yards long although we can easily shorten the course for dogs that might find this hard going. Dogs typically run in pairs and size/breed/fitness matched dogs are drawn from a hat with the winning dogs going through to the next round. However, our events are informal and geared towards the well-being of the dogs - we're flexible enough to ensure that all of the dogs have a great time.
There is ample parking beside the securely fenced course. We have toilet and tea and coffee making facilities and each summer we aim to have an evening event (including barbecue) where you can bring and cook your own food.
There are no membership fees. A nominal charge is made of a couple of pounds per dog to cover the costs of the events.
